The role

Shaw Communications has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Analyst in our Calgary office. Reporting to the Manager, Delivery Service Management Technologies.

A typical day

• Lead the establishment of a shared Quality Management framework with the creation of standards, best practices, while providing guidance and direction for all QA\QC analysts in the department.
• Design and develop automated and manual testing strategies and building an automated testing framework.
• Analyze and verify best automated and manual test approaches and execute acceptance, integration, installation and system (Code, Object) level testing.
• Establish test strategies, estimate level of effort, create and /or approve test plans, create manual and automated test suites to ensure completeness and traceability from testing deliverables to business requirements
• Assess functionality, performance, reliability, stability, and compatibility with other systems.
• Analyses test cases, scenarios and results to confirm quality and ‘definition of done’
• Develop and execute test automations through Python, ServiceNOW ATF and hardware and software test tools.
• Develop, configure and execute stability, performance and edge case testing, presenting results for validating and analysis
• Prepare software defect tracking and report entire project release status to stakeholders.
• Drive collaboration with all internal and external QA partners, across other departments
• Advocate for a high-quality product - promotes a "quality first" approach to decision making
• Familiarizes themselves with the systems they are supporting / testing to understand the purpose and primary functions
• Participates in defect and triage type meetings for resolving identified defects/incidents
• Ensures solutions, applications and/o systems are produced with the ability to withstand unexpected data or user errors
• Keeps current with trends and best practices related to quality assurance practices, methodologies, and tools
• Strong desire to improve testing processes
• Ability to translate Test Cases to automated test scripts

Your skills/experience

• 8+ years of progressive experience in varied and complex IT delivery projects within a software development environment including:
• 5+ years’ experience in software quality assurance and testing
• 3+ years’ experience as a project QA lead
• 1+ year experience in test automation
• Proven ability to apply core QA/QC concepts to testing problems within areas they may or may not have had exposure or experience with
• Hands-on, in depth knowledge of software quality assurance/testing methodologies, toolkits, automation and process knowledge
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Experience with strategic and business planning
• Demonstrated business analysis ability including the ability to communicate effectively with end users
• Experience with Web Service Testing
• Demonstrated ability to specify and develop custom automated and non-automated test harnesses
• Familiarity with open source test tools and utilities
• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Prepare and deliver presentations and/or demonstrations
• Strong understanding of IT and backend integrations

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience with tracking tools such as JIRA
• Knowledge of Contact Center Technology is an asset
• Knowledge of web application security and penetration test tools/techniques an asset
• Project Management experience an asset
• Knowledge of the telecommunications industry including cable, internet, telephony and wireless is an asset
