The role

Shaw Communications Inc. has an exciting 12 – 18 month maternity leave opportunity for a Sr. Tax Analyst to join the Corporate Taxation team. Working at our downtown Calgary office, and reporting to the Manager, Taxation the successful candidate will be assisting with various aspects of our corporate income tax function.

A typical day

• Prepare corporate income tax returns and other tax filings, including compilation of supporting working papers.
• Prepare income tax provisions and other tax reporting related requirements, including working papers and supporting analysis of the Income Tax Act and/or IFRS.
• Assist with Federal and Provincial income tax audits.
• Assist with income tax budgeting and modeling.
• Respond to income tax queries from the business.
• Perform income tax research related to corporate income tax issues and prepare analysis to support position.
• Assist on various other income tax projects, as required.

Your skills/experience

• Over 3 years of income tax and accounting experience – CPA designation preferred.
• In-depth Tax Level I required. Level II & III would be an asset.
• Experience with preparation of corporate income tax returns required.
• Experience with the preparation of tax provisions required.
• Ability to communicate income tax issues in a clear manner.
• Ability to foster and manage effective working relationships with personnel from all areas of the business.
• A self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Detail oriented and resourceful.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Advanced MS Office skills, particularly in Excel.
• Experience with Oracle or equivalent would be an asset.
