The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Specialist, OSS to join our Wireless OSS & Cloud Automation team on 12 month assignment. As a Senior Specialist, OSS (Operations Support Specialist) you will be working as part of Wireless OSS Team located in Mississauga/Toronto Office focusing on administrative support, planning, maintain large-scale OSS systems. You will get involved in the implementations OSS Systems and doing regular systems upgrades and change management of various projects.

A typical day

• Day to day Production support in a 24x7 highly available environment for different OSS Layers (Application related to element management systems, DB, OS, H/W)
• Configuration Management related to parameters changes, re-homing, re-parenting, capacity augmentation, s/w update/upgrade
• Implementation of required security policies for OSS platforms & OSS network
• Identify technical requirements, specifications and create evaluation of different vendors solutions.
• Ability to manage and operate scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure including the underlaying compute nodes, storage, and networking.
• Establish operations metrics, proactive monitoring and capacity planning for managed cloud infrastructure.
• Manage and operate Systems Backup and Restore.
• Mange and deploy security guidelines for managed cloud solutions.
• Ensure that technical designs meet functional design requirements as well as maintain the integrity and sustainability of the applications.
• Generate operational reports and KPI analysis as needed.
• Participate in and evaluate proof-of-concepts for server, storage, network, and security technologies to support the cloud infrastructure.

Your skills/experience

• University degree in Computer science, Telecommunications or equivalent experience.
• Experience in Element management systems (Nokia NetAct, EdenNet, Cisco EPNM)
• Experience in Linux operating system.
• Experience in Network policy and network provisioning systems
• Strong experience with setup of Disaster Recovery and High Availability Solutions
• Ability to support working outside of normal business hours to provide after hour or "on-call" support when necessary to solve high profile issues or complete critical path projects
• Knowledge of DevOps methods and CI/CD automation practices.
• Strong Knowledge in Networking Background
• Strong Knowledge in Cloud & Virtualization environment e.g. VMware & Red hat OpenShift
• Broad knowledge of telecommunication technologies, network, and service management technologies.
• Familiarity with either ITIL, eTOM
• Development / Shell Scripting skills
• Must have strong Unix shell and Perl and/or PHP scripting knowledge
• Must have working knowledge of basic SQL statements and relational databases
• Solid working knowledge of both Windows and Unix Operating Systems, file and directory structures, commands, command-line interfaces and utilities
• Programming knowledge in Java, J2EE, SQL, Oracle, Sybase, Unix.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Performance Monitor & tuning.

Other details

• This position requires the successful completion of a criminal and credit background check
• This role is Location specific: Freedom Toronto & Mississauga sites
• This role will require 25% travel to different Data Centers across Canada
• This role will require to work on 24 X 7 On-Call Schedule and working during maintenance window
• Please note this would be a 12 month temporary contract position
