The role

As the Manager, Configuration Management in our Infrastructure (ESTN) team you will establish and maintain a practice focused on maintaining a complete and accurate inventory of all our deployed assets. The successful candidate will guide a team of specialists, build and execute a delivery plan and ensure the proper processes and governance are in place for the ingestion, tracking and management of data in our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to support effective lifecycle and service management by providing relevant information for decision-making purposes.

A typical day

• Delivery of a single view into the source of truth for all configuration items and their relationships
• Collaborate with leadership, architecture, and business teams to establish a strategic vision and roadmap that supports strategic goals, with business value outcomes clearly identified and aligned
• Manage Intake and Demand Management, ensuring alignment with partner strategies. Maintain an accurate Delivery Plan through building consensus around priorities, sequencing and delivery timing.
• Overseeing the projects, priorities and work assignments of the team comprised of Project leaders, Developers, QA Analysts, Business Analysts ensuring timely delivery meeting all outcomes
• Maintenance of the integrity of the CIs and their relationships by establishing appropriate governance including processes, roles & responsibilities, audits, certifications and control boards as appropriate
• Facilitating communication, engagement & mentoring of the Business and IT Management to encourage process adoption through value propositions, key business capabilities and Configuration Management (CM) concepts
• Lead communication and provide reporting to Leadership and Stakeholders as it relates to the delivery, engagement, support, and maintenance
• Continuous improvement of process effectiveness, process efficiency, process alignment and process compliance
• Recruit, hire, coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
• Maintenance, support & compliance of budget
• Other activities as required to support the objectives and strategies of the team

Your skills/experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post-secondary education in Computer Science
• Experience in both hardware and software asset and configuration management as well as knowledge of IT Service Management processes (a focus in ServiceNow CMDB) is preferred
o Experience with the design and delivery of ITIL aligned configuration management processes
o Experience in analysis and reporting, relating to CMDB data quality and governance
• Experience leading cross-discipline teams, with proven ability to recruit, retain & motivate staff while delivering to stakeholder expectations
• Experience using Agile and/or lean methodologies or equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical problem solving, and communication skills are required
• Ability to work seamlessly with people of varied experience, skill levels, technical and business savvy, and personality type
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build consensus and develop solid relationships across all divisions and departments.
• Understanding of budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation management
• Demonstrates strong ability to develop strategic ongoing relationships - gaining trust and respect
• Highly motivated, self-driven, customer focused, dependable, and goal-oriented team player who can function in a rapid paced, dynamic environment
• Telecommunications and infrastructure experience an asset
