The role

The Data Center Networks team is currently seeking a Network Architect to join their team. As a Network Architect you will be accountable for providing ongoing operational support for multiple data center environments which directly enable the services consumed by our subscriber base. This will include typical network deployment and scaling activities, as well as maintenance activities associated with data center environments such as firewall, load balancer, etc. configuration updates and including troubleshooting

A typical day

• Participate in deployment of service provider Data Center architectures
• Prepare detailed engineering documentation (work orders, MOPs, BOMs, standards)
• Assist in the development of network standards for the installation, testing, and operations of Data Center network equipment
• Monitor network utilization and plan network upgrades to accommodate for growth
• Provide technical support to the Network Operations Center, technicians and other Shaw staff during the installation, implementation, troubleshooting and ongoing support of Data Center Network facilities and services

Your skills/experience

• 2+ years of experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of Data Center networks involving routers, switches, and security appliance technologies
• Experience with traditional Layer2 network environments and protocols such as STP
• Experience with Layer3 protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, etc
• Familiarity with MPLS forwarding protocols such as MP-BGP, Segment Routing, etc is an asset
• Experience with traffic generation test equipment is an asset
• Experience with traffic capture tools such as Wireshark/TCPdump, etc during root cause analysis is desired
• Experience working with IOS-XR, NxOS, ASA, FPR, F5 LTM
• Experience with automation engines and configuration management systems such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet or Terraform is an asset
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and negotiation skills are required for this position
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with Visio, Microsoft Office, Windows and Linux

• This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check
