The role

We are currently seeking a Software Asset Management Analyst to join our team and lead our software asset management efforts. This position will report directly to our End User Experience team in our Enterprise Solutions and Strategic Delivery team.

You will have the exciting opportunity to work with Shaw’s team of subject matter experts, including Project and Program Managers, Procurement and Sourcing, Technology leaders and Financial Managers to create SAM processes and technologies. A typical day

• Create and manage the complete SAM and Software Application Lifecycle from procurement, reconciliation, true ups, through to disposal/retirement.
• Establish software asset management processes and technology capability to track Shaw’s enterprise-wide fees, licences, and maintenance (FLM) portfolio.
• Partner with technology leaders and strategic sourcing to maintain relationships with customers, software vendors as appropriate.
• Identify redundancies or deficiencies related to Software Licensing.
• Manage licensing with responsible parties to ensure usages and active users are properly aligned to contract requirements and that supporting documentation and reporting is provided.
• Lead the implementation of audit readiness processes to ensure we are minimizing license compliance risks.
• Assisting procurement, financial, and legal departments in analyzing budgets, proposals, and vendor contracts for acquisition, monitoring, and compliance of software assets.
• Develop reports that pull data from various sources showing utilization trends and potential savings opportunities.
• Identify potential cost savings opportunities relating to software and support by working with Sourcing to help improve our negotiating position with vendors.
• Research industry best practices and compare against organization’s practices to establish benchmarks for managing software assets.
• Advance asset management technology capabilities through development of automation around IT procurement processes.
• Create and maintain a software and applications licensing governance model in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing.
• Work closely with vendor partners to ensure compliance to utilization.
• Proactively make recommendations to leadership on acquisition, maintenance, audit and licensing management of software and applications.
• Participate in licensing acquisition and renewal management and negotiations.

Your skills/experience

• Deep experience in Software Asset Management principles and methodologies
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline is desirable
• 5+ years of SAM experience with either ServiceNow SAM Pro, snow* or other SAM Tools
• Knowledge of discovery tools including SCCM, ServiceNow
• Experience in leading software audits
• Understanding of contractual terms and conditions in Software and SaaS agreements.
• Knowledge of Software and SaaS principals and best practices, industry standards, tools & technology
• Knowledge of usage metrics for key Software and SaaS providers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce etc
• Demonstrated ability to influence the scope and direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data gathered from a variety of sources and recommend actions and solutions
• Strong communicator via all collaboration technologies (SharePoint, Teams, etc.) and excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide variety of audiences
• 5+ years of experience with development and maintenance of software acquisition and renewal governance models

• This position requires the successful completion of a criminal and credit background check.
• Applicants will be hired in any Shaw or Freedom Mobile location and will not be required to relocate for this role. Remote work is an option.
