The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Customer Solutions Engineering, in either Calgary or Vancouver. Reporting to the Director, 5G and Regulatory, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of innovative Private wireless LTE/5G communications solutions for key customer accounts.

A typical day

• Oversee the end-to-end delivery of private LTE/5G customer networks working closely with Customers, technology partners, sub-contractors, and internal teams.
• Manage all post-sales engineering activities, including design, installation, commissioning, integration, final acceptance testing, and transfer to operations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor project plans that balance technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Recruit, build and manage a team of high-performing technical and project management professionals.
• Drive continuous improvement by refining and/or developing and implementing new processes, procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to Customers in support of post-sales activities.
• Provide feedback to pre-sales Engineering on enhancements/improvements on designs and methods.

Your skills/experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or related field is a must.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in wireless systems engineering and complex systems integration projects, coupled with 5+ years’ experience in a technical management role.
• Experience building complex systems for Private Industrial or Government Customers would be a definite asset.
• In-depth knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals, standards, protocols, and network architectures, including LTE/5G RAN and core networks, Private LTE/5G, 3GPP standards, LMR, and microwave radio.
• Familiarity with RF engineering, antenna systems, link budgets, RF coverage prediction, traffic/capacity modeling, and related topics.
• Knowledge of Layer 1-3 networking protocols and standards, including IP, MPLS, Ethernet, and optical networking, is highly desirable.
• Hands-on project management experience with large, complex system engineering/integration projects would also be an asset.
• Demonstrated experience building, managing and mentoring high performing technical teams.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills coupled with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to build strong relationships with Customers and internal and external stakeholders.
• Industry certifications in networking and security (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, CWNP, etc.) are an asset.
• Able to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.
