The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Digital Technical Lead, reporting to the Manager, Digital Applications, the successful candidate will be responsible for technical leadership and mentoring to architecture, development, capability, and product teams, right from the idea creation stage through to delivery, identifying technical issues, risks, and mitigation strategies. The focus of this role will be on the Frontend side of the development life cycle.

A typical day

• Define end to end technical solutions that consider enterprise architecture strategies, current state environment, and constraints
• Analyze the viability of the solutions to meet product timeline, budget, and quality standards. Present product solution to different stakeholders and certification boards as needed
• Review product level architectures and details designs in order to ensure compliance with the program level solution architecture and aligns with related roadmaps as applicable
• Comfortable working with others and teams to collaborate on finding the most effective (and efficient) solutions
• Excited to learn and sample (POC) new technology for future implementations and projects
• Translate the business requirements into a technical solution
• Work closely with both business and technology partners/specialists to understand the current state and constraints for defining the future state architecture of the applications & related interfaces
• Work with the development leads and developers to provide technical details and estimates for the proposed solution
• Be responsible for establishing and enforcing standards and practices with the development team
• Create and maintain system documentation and share knowledge with extended team, testing teams and senior management
• Flexibility to teach and coach agile teams in design methodology and solutions
• Make sure that all new solutions are scalable and yield to high architectural standards
• Participate in the full life-cycle development process from product definition, through design, development, test, release, and maintenance
• Work closely with Development Manager, Project Manager, Development Leads, Developers and Business Analysts for understanding the functional and system requirements
• After hours and weekend work is required on an as needed/on call basis for projects, emergencies, and upgrades

Your skills/experience

• Deep technical proficiency and advanced level experience with different frontend Web Development Technologies such as React JS, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
• Technologies: React JS, Redux, ReSelect, Saga, Axios, GraphQL, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, Rebass, BootStrap, HTML5, CSS, Git, GitFlow, TDD
• Experience with designing, implementing, or operating IT systems on leading commercial Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google
• Experience in TDD – Test driven development
• Experience in systems analysis, troubleshooting, and quality control,
• Experience in headless CMSs will be an asset
• Experience in Progressive web app will be an asset
• Experience in End-to-end testing tools (Selenium) will be an asset
• Work as an individual contributor and as part of a team
• A passion for innovation and continual learning
• Able to drive change to meet expected quality and timeline
• Familiarity with Cloud Foundry, OpenShift or Docker
• Familiarity with development architectures/principles: DevOps, Microservices, Server-less Cloud Computing

• Computer Science Degree or equivalent
• 10+ years total software development experience required
• 5 - 10 years of experience with technical design for enterprise level projects
• Strength in communication (written and verbal) to other technical and business associates
• Self-evident adaptability, a quick learner
• Proven ability to proactively identify, analyze, recommend and/or implement creative solutions for problems
• Familiarity with project management software and continues integration such as Jira Jenkins
• Experience in evangelizing service capabilities with an orientation towards innovation
• Play trusted advisor to the program leadership to bring the right technical skills on the board
• Partner with DevOps teams to operationalize the product deliveries

• This position requires the successful completion of a criminal and credit background check
• Applicants will be hired at our Toronto location and will not be required to relocate for this role
