The role

We are looking for a Senior MicroStrategy professional to join the Business Intelligence team at Shaw as a Sr. BI Analyst supporting our Wireless division. The BI team works closely with our business partners to map business processes into the reporting layer. You will primarily work on and maintain the MicroStrategy architecture design ensuring standards are maintained and will collaborate with other Architects, DBAs, and Data Analysts to review & implement database & report requirements. Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, and activities will include everything from gathering requirements, designing, and modeling both at database layer and MSTR schema layer, to report authoring and delivery of end-to-end business intelligence reporting solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong business, analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication skills in both technical and business terms and the ability to collaborate with others are essential.

Your skills/experience

• 8+ years complex SQL writing skills and experience with SQL performance tuning and optimization.
• 5+ years demonstrated experience semantic layer design for complex MSTR projects with hands on experience in MicroStrategy components like MSTR Architect, Desktop/Developer, MSTR Web, Distribution services, Dossier, Hyper-Intelligence
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written and oral) with ability to directly interact with business users at all levels of the organization to define dashboards and reporting solutions to meet diverse, complex business needs.
• Strong analytical skills to do impact analysis due to tool migration and ability to break down and decompose complex data sets and ambiguous problems.
• Experience in creating MicroStrategy Schema and application objects such as logical tables, attributes, facts, hierarchies, metrics, prompts, filters, consolidations, and custom groups.
• Experience in Report Services, Dynamic Dashboard, Mobile Dashboards, Report development and visualization.
• Solid understanding and knowledge of Star/ Snowflake/ Dimensional Data Modelling, Data Warehouse and reporting techniques.
• Experience working with the full life cycle development process, which includes analysis, design, development, and testing.
• Experience in working with logical data models, different types of hierarchies in MicroStrategy.
• Experience in working with complex MicroStrategy reports using advanced filters, level metrics, transformation metrics and using pass through functions in the schema objects.
• Experience in implementing MicroStrategy security model.
• Knowledge of Object Manager, Enterprise Manager, Command Manager and System manger.
• Experience in performance tuning of various Reports and Dashboards using VLDB Properties.
• Telecom industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
