The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Proposal Manager working in Calgary Reporting to the Manager, Technical Writing and Proposals, the successful candidate will be accountable for the development, creation, evaluation and organization of responses to bid documents including but not limited to: Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), Expression of Interest (EOI), Request for Quote (RFQ), Unsolicited Bids and Prequalification Requests (PQR) for Shaw Business Sales.

A typical day

Edit, proofread, format, print, and compile bids and associated documentation; Ensure branding, messaging, voice etc. are consistent in bid documents
• Liaise with internal teams to gather information for proposal responses; develop and write content for bids; execute project plans to ensure timelines are met; develop and maintain relationships with internal groups
• Contribute to the development of standard proposal-ready content (boilerplate) for future use
• Update, maintain, and organize boilerplate material to ensure brand consistency, ease of identification and retrieval in the proposal database
• Schedule and participate in bid strategy, review, and evaluation meetings and record minutes for all bid related meetings
• Write various proposal sections, including biographies, project descriptions, and qualification summaries, as required
• Create and maintain various sales tools to assist the sales representatives in their initiatives including quote templates, case studies, etc.
• Provide support on various projects and initiatives
• Assist with clarification, bid evaluation, finalist presentations, and bid handover documentation
• Assist with contract reviews, specifically in relation to compliance with our proposal
• Assist with bid reporting and tracking
• Search public bidding sites for new opportunities
• Maintain database for customer references; liaise with marketing and Sales channel to ensure that information is up-to-date and consistent with Testimonials, Case Studies and White Papers
• Assist with educating new employees on RFP process (on-boarding) and development.
• Create and maintain database of Corporate Resumes

Your skills/experience

• A positive, “can-do” attitude that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and sincerity
• Ability to manage cross functional teams
• Experience in Project Management would be an asset
• 3 years + of relevant work experience
• Business Writing acumen with the ability to create new content
• Excellent editorial skills are a must
• An education in Communications, Business Writing or Technical Writing preferred
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook)
• Strong initiative, and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and in a team environment
• Ability to work accurately (attention to detail) in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
